Book Reviews

The adventures of Tom and Irving

Pamela Hill

A journey to find your true self with the unconditional love of a pet.

I loved this book. I have been on that journey to find myself after hitting an impasse. I also enjoyed reading about the places I have lived which were described beautifully.
This book made me laugh and cry. If you have the courage to face the circumstances of your life and take responsibility for your actions, you will have a life that you never imaged. And to have an “Irving” along for the ride, is the cherry on top! Highly recommend. Looking forward to reading more by this author.

Therapeutic Thoughts

Erica Pagerey

Helpful for looking deeper!!

I was so excited to check out this book. As someone who has been involved with various forms of self reflection over many years, I feel that this journal can help me look just a bit deeper. I love that there is a place to write down safe people to contact and a safety plan just in case. I’ll definitely be making use of this going forward.

Fifteen Minutes on Illinois Street

Claude

Wonderful novel!!

What do you get when take interesting, diverse, well developed characters. Have them deal with current topical situations. Then place them during the Covid pandemic? You get Fifteen Minutes on Illinois Street. A fast paced 5 star novel that I highly recommend!!!

Upcoming Events

No special events this month by me, but that should not stop you from taking on activities this month.  â€‹September is chock full of holidays and observances.  While some are serious remembrance days such as, Labor Day on September 1st, September11 National Day of Service, and the Trail of Tears Commemoration Day on the 16th others should be pure fun.

Here is something to celebrate each week of September.  There are so many more fun days to explore. I got these from   September Holidays 2025: Observances To Add To Your Calendar

Week One: September 1- 6, September 1st is not only Labor Day, but we think you should know it's also Ginger Cat Appreciation Day

Week Two 7-13, Star trek Day September 8th and don't forget Wonderful Weirdos Day September 9th

September11 National Day of Service honors those we lost, the heroes and survivors of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Week Three 14-20, September 16th   Trail of Tears Commemoration. This day remembers the forced displacement of about 60,000 Native Americans members of the Cherokee, Muscogee, Seminole, Chickasaw, and Choctaw nations between 1830 and 1850.

Apparently, September 18th is very busy. It's National Respect Day, Purple Bra Day, and Read An Ebook Day.  I think you could wear a purple bra while you read and respect others.

Week 4 September 21-27, September 26, Hug a Vegetarian Day (I volunteer for that!)

Week Five September 28 - October 4th

National Biscotti Day seems to go naturally with National Coffee Day on September 29th
